If you believe the song, then this is truly the most wonderful time of the year. But for many of us, it can be the most stressful time of the year. Buying presents, decorating houses, running businesses and scheduling out of town guests. All lovely things to do, but piled one on top of the other, it can be overwhelming.
Whenver you can, try to simplify. Delegate things instead of trying to do everything yourself. Perhaps this year you can hire a cleaning service to spruce up your home. Change things up and have more of a potluck style Christmas brunch where everyone brings their favorite dish, and it’s doesn’t necessarily have to be home made.
At work, hire some repetitive tasks out. Get a virtual receptionist, or even a virtual assistant to do the research for a big project that is coming up in the new year. Perhaps take a look at your to do list and cross off some items which are simply not that important.
You know all that vacation time you have accrued and never used? Take a vacation day and catch up on things. It will relieve stress, allow you to do your shopping or decorating while the others are out of the way and maybe you can even take part of the day to have lunch with an old friend, or a family member whom you are longing to catch up with.
Fully half of the stress we feel at the holidays we generate all by ourselves. Instead of worrying about everything that needs to get accomplished and feeling like only we can do it ourselves, let the reins loose and delegate for a change.
Happy Holidays from all of us here at Central Comm!
