The Holiday season is over. Our lives are returning to normal now that we have celebrated the end of the last year. Presents are put away, decorations are taken down, family has returned to their homes. For some it’s a relief, for other it leaves a hole that’s not easily filled. Either way, for most of us, it feels good to have work to jump back into. Goals set, plans made and a fresh attitude for the new year.
Last year was one of the best years that some companies have had in a long time. It was a year where they almost had more work than they could handle. It is not easy to find qualified people right now, because there is so much growth and everyone is competing for the best talent.
The service industries, builders, plumbers, electricians are all short of good, qualified people. On the other end of the specturm, the community colleges are once again building workshops and have begun to offer specialized schooling for the trades. In my opinion, they should never have stopped doing that. Not everyone is cut out for year of schooling, and we need good trades people, to keep things running.
There was already a shortgage of available housing for all of the people who are looking for homes, and now, with a series of natural disasters which have caused numerous homes to be destoryed over this past year, the housing shortgage is even more critical.
